THE SELECTION BY GEORGES HELFER

Oranges bathed in sun, imported primarily from South Africa, Uruguay and Argentina

Valencia

The juicy, light-coloured orange for squeezing

The Valencia is an averagely sized orange, with a thin peel. Its beautiful colour and high yield of juice, it occasionally has a slight hint of acidity, which is pleasant to the taste. Our Valencia oranges are from South Africa and Brazil. The proportion of juice to flesh in a Valencia is approximately 55%

Midknight

Sweeter than the Valencia

The Midknight is a juicing orange that has very few pips. The fruits are picked late in the season, which gives them their beautiful colouring and allows them to develop maximum quantities of sugar and vitamins. The yield from a Midknight orange tree is less than that from a Valencia orange tree. We import these oranges exclusively from South Africa.

Delta Seedless

The sweet juicing orange,without pips

Navel

The "eating orange"

The Navel is an "eating orange". Its rind is easily peeled - thin and coarse. The flesh is firm, containing few pips, and the flavour is sweet

Salustiana

Similar to the Valencia

Similar to the Valencia, the Salustiana is a "juicing orange". It is bright orange in colour. It has a high juice content and a high brix level (sugar level). A soft skin and mild in flavour. We import it primarily from Uruguay and Argentine.

Preservation / storage

Oranges, part of the citrus fruit family, are fruits with a long shelf-life. In order to preserve their optimal qualities, they are best stored in a cool place (4/8°C). You can keep them for 2/3 weeks if stored in the fridge. Once sliced or peeled, it is best that you immediately consume the entire fruit, otherwise it will dry out and loose its nutritive quality and flavour
